Hydrometeorology is the study that focuses on the exchange of water and energy between the land-surface and atmosphere. This course is to provide the advance understanding and integrated knowledge to the hydrologic cycle with emphasis on the exchange of water and energy between the land surface, subsurface, ecosystem, and the lower atmosphere. In addition, this course emphasizes on the use of physical principles (e.g. mass, energy, and momentum balance) to describe the influence of land use, vegetation, soil types, and climate on water quantity and quality. Water resources and policy issues from regional to global scales will be incorporated where applicable.

This course is an advance course designed for the third/fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students whose background and interests are in physical geography, environmental sciences, and water resource.

Prerequisite: Climatology and Lab (氣候學與實習), Environmental Hydrology and Lab (環境水文學及實習), Calculus (微積分), Statistics (統計學), or other equivalent courses.
